Cis/Trans Women: Decreasing Barriers to HIV Care

In this issue:

Are cis women and trans women receiving appropriate and effective HIV testing, prevention, and treatment? Do women of color have higher rates of infection and lower rates of testing and treatment? What barriers do women living with HIV face and how can those barriers be overcome? What does the evidence say?

These are some of the questions Guest Author Dr. Kathleen McManus from the Division of Infectious Diseases and International Health at the University of Virginia discusses in this issue of eHIV Review.

Learning objectives:

  • Discuss some of the barriers that cis and trans women face when accessing HIV testing, and PrEP and/or HIV care.
  • Describe findings from qualitative studies and interventions about delivering person-centered PrEP and/or HIV care to cis and trans women.
