ART, HRT, Pregnancy, and Menopause in Women Living With HIV

In this issue:

Pregnancy and menopause — for many women, these are two of the most significant healthcare events in their lives. For WLWH (women living with HIV) and their healthcare providers, managing these life-changing periods is often complicated by many questions.

Is HRT (hormone replacement therapy) safe? Is it appropriate for contraception as well as relief of menopausal symptoms? How might hormone replacement therapy interact with their current ART regimen? Does living with HIV induce early menopause? What does the evidence say?

Join us, as we discuss these issues with Dr. Anna Powell, Assistant Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, in this issue of eHIV Review.

Learning objective:

  • Describe the safety and use of various ART regimens with hormonal contraception.
